Meet The Board

Brian Davidson – Chairman
Partner RooGreen Ventures LLP, Chairman of Total Fitness Health Clubs Ltd. Former Chairman and CEO of Crown Paints Ltd, Former COO of Alexander Dennis Ltd and former Chairman of Plaxton Holdings and CEO of Plaxton Limited. Formerly a non-executive Director of Fairline Boat Holdings Ltd and Scottish Legal Life. Brian is 50, married with two daughters and lives in North Yorkshire.




Frank Barrett – CEO
Frank joined the business in August 2018 as CEO. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde and began his career with Rolls-Royce as a Development Support Engineer, later working in Germany within the Rolls Royce BMW joint venture. Moving in 1996 to NACCO Material Handling where he carried out various management roles in manufacturing and engineering before moving to American Axle in 1999 as Operations Director. From 2002, Frank has held roles as Vice President for Howco Group and COO Clyde Union Pumps before moving to the role of CEO at Parsons Peebles in 2013.


Geoff Hudson – Commercial Director
Geoff has been with the company for over 44 years and has worked in all three divisions, covering a variety of disciplines. Geoff joined the company at the grass roots level as an apprentice coachbuilder straight from school and has steadily worked his way through the business to his current position of Managing Director. Geoff was a member of the original management buy out team that purchased the business from within the Plaxton / Henly Empire in 1992, followed by a second management buyout in 2003. Having sold his shareholding with the previous owner directors, he has reinvested with the new investor team, so the story continues.


Jon Sharrock- Group Finance Director
Jon joined the Board as Finance Director in October 2018. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young in 1995, he moved into industry a year later joining HUSCO International LLP. Promoted to UK Finance Director in 1999, and Vice President of Finance and Corporate Controller based in Wisconsin in 2005. In 2006 he moved to RTS PLC as Group Finance Director where he supported the successful turnaround and sale of the operating businesses. In 2011 he joined APPH Limited as Finance Director where he supported the sale of the business in 2014 to Heroux Devtek Inc. Jon is married with 2 children and is based in Manchester.


John Randerson – Managing Director Bus Division
Joining the Mellor team in 2014 as Operations Manager John subsequently was promoted to General Manager and is now Managing Director of Mellor Coachcraft and Treka Bus where he is focused on providing elegant and high-quality bus solutions for our wide range of existing customers. Looking to the future John will oversee the continued growth in the division with the introduction of new products and will be ensuring the highly experienced and skilled team at Mellor continue to provide innovative options for low cost, lightweight and robust vehicles in the local authority, community transport and stage carriage sectors.


Warwick Ley – Non-Executive Director
Warwick has over 18 years experience in private equity investing, board directorships and “Big 4” corporate finance advisory. Warwick was a former partner of the private equity firm Endless LLP and prior to that a Director at Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen. Warwick has led investments which have achieved top decile industry returns and has strong relationships across the UK advisory, banking, private equity and investor communities. A chartered accountant, Warwick also is currently a board member of the Total Fitness Health Clubs Group and has previously held main board positions at well-known companies such Crown Paints Group (Chairman 2009-11), Neville Johnson and Trutex Schoolwear.


Paul Newton- Non-Executive Director
Paul is a Chartered Accountant who qualified with KPMG in 1988. In 1991 he was a founder Director of the private equity backed Davenham Group, which he left in 1994 to help establish the Royal Bank of Scotland’s leveraged finance activities. In 1999 he was recruited to run Murray Johnstone’s (now Aberdeen Asset Management) North West office, which he did until he left to co-found Mosaic Private Equity with Mike Rogan in 2006. He has extensive experience of all aspects of private company investment. Paul has extensive board room experience with board positions including Brookhouse Aerospace Limited, Styles & Wood, Inspirepac Limited and Fish Administration (Holdings) Limited.


Michael Rogan- Non-Executive Director
Mike qualified as a solicitor with London law firm Lawrence Graham in 1992. In 1995, he joined Addleshaw Goddard in Manchester specialising in corporate finance and private equity transactions. Mike left Addleshaw Goddard in 1999 and joined Aberdeen Asset Managers Private Equity as an Investment Director where he was responsible for all aspects of private equity transactions, post investment management and strategic development of investee companies. Mike is a founding director of Mosaic Private Equity, which he co–founded with Paul Newton in 2006. He has extensive boardroom experience over 15 years with board positions including Plaxton Limited, Citation plc, Inspirepac Limited and Fish Administration (Holdings) Limited.
