| Mr & Mrs Jagger of H. Morris Ltd. Funeral Services in New Zealand have had a desire for a number of years to have a Black English Hearse as part of their fleet of funeral vehicles.
Following a recent visit to England, where Ray & Pat toured the Coleman Milne factory in Westhoughton and observed the conversion process of our vehicles, they decided to purchase a new Ford Cardinal Hearse. The decision was made based upon the fact that the vehicle is manufactured on an Australian Ford Fairlane Station Wagon and as such it is compatible with New Zealand conditions and regulations.
H. Morris Ltd Funeral Services was established in 1933 in the beautiful marine suburb of Devonport in Aukland, New Zealand, by Mr Harry Morris. In 1939 the company became a foundation member of the New Zealand Federation of Funeral Directors, which later became the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand. Ray Jagger joined the company in 1965 after emigrating from England. The company was purchased in 1994 by Ray and his wife Pat.
The funeral home comprises of a Chapel, which seats 120 people, a reception lounge for after funeral catering, a casket display room, 2 viewing lounges, a 2 station fully equipped embalming theatre, casket storage area, trimming room and cool room facilities. They operate two American Buick Station Wagons (gold coloured) as Hearses and 3 Holden Station Wagons as removal and arrangment vehicles. H. Morris Funeral Services conducts approximately 350-400 funerals per year in the Aukland area.
The vehicle is due to leave England, on its long journey, at the end of February, arriving in New Zealand in April. Mr Jagger and all his staff are looking forward to having this vehicle join their fleet. |
